"That willing suspension of disbelief for the moment, which constitutes poetic faith"
As katehines.com grows, the company reflects more aspects of who I am as an artist, merchant, businesswoman and fellow traveler. I want to share a personal story of my English country wedding to Chris, (handsome husband of many years). An aria amidst an interlude, this story is still miraculous to me; a part I played in a magical dream.
Chris and I responded, aesthetically, to an old English church. The luck, lark and love from that choice initiated my journey toward a renewed appreciation for the power of tradition. I began to mine a vein of classicism and esteem time-tested motifs and materials. Because of the story of my wedding, I celebrate that most traditional of jewelry materials: pearls.
Five Weeks in Devon
Chris and I were engaged when he won a Massachusetts fellowship for sculpture that took us to England for six weeks; one in London and five in the country life fantasy of South West England.
Coleridge’s Devon is a revelation. Small towns crown fishing ports and dot rolling hills. Rural farms mix with seaside resorts, nature reserves, wind swept coasts, untamed moorlands, ancient abbeys and Iron Age berms.
